Forum for discussions about pre-history and early history focusing on re-construction after scientific facts and archaeological evidence. http://www.archaeoforum.de/ (Website in German only.)
This site offers a large selection of pictures of Natural History objects, mostly British in origin.
The images are presented to illustrate biodiversity and as an aid to identification. While pictures alone are generally not sufficient for identification, by showing different stages, states and views of the organisms more information can be offered than is available in field-guides.
BioImages is arranged in the normal biological classification. This is a hierarchical system with species grouped in genera, genera in families, families in orders and so on up to kingdoms and superkingdoms. http://www.bioimages.org.uk/
COMPASS currently features around 5000 objects from the huge range of periods and cultures represented in the British Museum. http://www.thebritishmuseum.ac.uk/compass/
A nice page on stuff for Middle Ages (1200 - 1450 AD) re-enactment with a glossary, event calendar, information on books, and links. Some of the content can also be of interest for earlier time periods, such as the end of the Viking Age. http://www.thescriptorium.co.uk/
The database of the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation provides information on endangered species which are protected by law, both national and international. A useful resource for the re-enactor who works with bone, antler, fur or other natural materials. http://www.s2you.com/wisia/ (Website in German only)
