This exhibition informs the visitor about the archaeological research of the early Baltic trade routes. The Vikings have not come to early medi-eval slavonic areas by chance, but to settle as traders and craftsmen along the southern Baltic coast. Artifacts discovered during the excavations at trader centres of that time display the relations between the Vikings and the Slaves. Many of the finds are on display for the first time.
The exhibition focuses on the important early medi-eval trade centres in the bay of Wismar (Groß Strömkendorf / Reric), at the river mouth of the Warnow (Rostock-Dierkow), and on Rügen (Ralswiek).
